Food service and restaurant industry expert CEO, Fry Cook & Cashier, RCO Limited – Raising Cane’s Ohio Columbus, Ohio Roy Getz, a restaurant industry veteran of 30 years, started his career flipping hotcakes and slinging hash brown potatoes for Bob Evans Restaurants. As a cook and crew leader, Roy put himself through college earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Cleveland State University. Roy, although intent on a life in finance, could not ignore the “call of the kitchen and the ring of the cash register.” Roy entered into restaurant management, driving sales and profits for Bob Evans restaurants in Cleveland and Youngstown before he was asked to join the corporate team in Columbus Ohio. Once at corporate, Roy fine tuned his brand development skills on Bob Evans Restaurants, Owens Family Restaurants, Cantina del Rio (a start up casual Mexican restaurant) and Calico Café, a precursor to Mimi’s Café. Roy’s leadership propelled him through the management ranks at Bob Evans, becoming Vice President of Marketing for the Restaurant Division after 18 years. Roy’s success caught the attention of the Denny’s Leadership team, and for Roy it was off to Spartanburg, South Carolina to head up their Marketing and Product Development team as Senior Vice President. Roy enthusiastically accepted the challenge to turn around a mature and damaged national legacy brand. After 4 years with the Grand Slam, it was back to Columbus to attempt to turn around a home town favorite, Damon’s, as their Chief Marketing Officer. But, Damon’s would be Roy’s final corporate job. Roy, as if hit by lightning, fell in love with one of the restaurant industry’s hottest new concepts – Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers. With three Business Partners, Roy’s no longer fixing brands; he is now building one! Roy and his partners have the rights to the State of Ohio and plan on opening 50 locations throughout the state, serving fresh never frozen chicken fingers to thousands of delighted guests each week.
